Cheltenham League Div 1.

Star FC Res 2 Bibury FC 1.

BIBURY were made to rue missed chances against mid-table Star FC on Saturday.

Bibury started well with chances falling to Darren Parker and Ashley Rockley in the first few minutes. Star also had a couple of shots which went wide.

Bibury had a great chance through Chris Haynes but the Star keeper made a sharp stop at his feet, while Danny Brunton and Dan Shannon also went close for the visitors.

Bibury did take the lead when a long ball from Shannon found Haynes, who beat his defender and powered a shot past the keeper.

Minutes later, Rockley had a good chance but again the Star keeper produced a fine save.

Star levelled from a corner with five minutes of the first half remaining.

Star began the second period on the attack and Bibury keeper Steve Luce was forced to make two sharp stops, while Todd Hathaway also made a clearance off the line.

At the other end, Harry Deacon had a shot well saved and Haynes fired wide in the run-up to the big talking point of the game.

Rockley appeared to be fouled in the area only for the referee to award the free kick outside the box; Rockley took the set piece but saw it saved.

Right on 90 minutes, a tall Star defender headed home a free kick to clinch a dramatic victory.
