Wilts Senior Cup Q Final.

Shrewton 2 Cricklade Town 3.

On 29 minutes, Cricklade took the lead when Carter headed the ball over the static Shrewton defence for Allan to run through and lob the keeper.

But poor defending cost Cricklade in the closing minutes of the half as they conceded two goals.

Keeper Devon Brown dropped a routine cross from the right and it was tapped home, then the Cricklade defence failed to mark well at a free kick, resulting in an easy header which made it 2-1 at the break.

Cricklade applied themselves in trying to get the equaliser and on 60 minutes Carter was put through by Price only for the keeper to save well.

Despite constant pressure and all three subs being used, the equaliser never looked like coming until the 90th minute when Alex Povey got to the byline and crossed for Carter to head home.

The win was secured in extra time when Carter spun off his markers before shooting home at the near post – his 200th goal for the club.

Manager Graham Jackson said: "It was a great result for the club, one that was deserved on the second half performance.

"It was a real squad effort as we had so many missing. The reserve players (Dave Jonson, Kane Wheatley and Dave Young) all contributed, along with debutant Rob Marder."

With semi-finals over one game it can go either way, the draw is on Tuesday night so looking forward to seeing who we get, we know the semi will be a tougher game, but it will be a great day out for the lads. Trowbridge won this cup a few years ago, so its one that the clubs at our level can win.
