TUESDAY night’s charity game between Cirencester Town and the Army’s 29 Regiment is going ahead despite the weather having been moved indoors to the Arena. Kick-off remains at 7.45pm.

Entrance is free, although there will be a bucket collection as the game is being played in aid of Help for Heroes and also the charity-run playgroup at the Duke of Gloucester Barracks.

The game will be played on Cirencester Arena’s newly-refurbished surface which has met with universal acclaim from pro clubs Swindon Town and Forest Green Rovers, who are using it regularly during the cold snap.

The match will be 9v9 on the 58-metre by 36-metre pitch.

A post-game raffle in the club’s Sportsman’s Bar is sure to generate some interest, too, as prizes include: - A fourball round of golf at Minchinhampton - A signed Phil Jagielka Adidas football boot - Two tickets for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club - A signed Mo Farah photo - Perfume, wine and many other great items With Cirencester Town’s last two league games having been postponed and this Saturday’s visit to Evesham under threat – the Robins have already called off Tuesday night’s game against Wimborne Town at their new Jubilee Stadium due to snow and ice – manager Brian Hughes insists he will use the charity match as a proper workout.

“Given our recent postponements, I will definitely play the first team and rotate one or two, as it will be 9v9.

“The game seems to have generated plenty of interest and the Army are bringing a fair few supporters so there should be a good atmosphere with spectators on three of the four sides.”

Town’s latest signing, former Welsh international keeper Glyn Garner will not be travelling to the game, meaning that either Lee Clatworthy or his brother Adam will play in goal for Ciren.

Lee has just recovered from an operation to his hand and, needing game time, has just signed dual registration forms with Hellenic side Longlevens.
