Lud-lows.

HAVING got back on to the racecourse after the festive period I was hoping for a more magical return, but it seems I must have had too much Christmas pudding. I ran last week at Ludlow and it was a low moment in my career finishing 10th of 12 runners. The course was very tight and I didn’t seem to find my rhythm, but no need to worry, I will be back to winning ways soon.

Stablemates.

Unfortunately no successes to speak of this week. Bradley became a TV star for the weekend when we were visited by the lovely Clare Balding and the Channel 4 Racing team who filmed a feature for The Morning Line. However, the fame must have gone to Bradley’s head as his performance at Warwick on Saturday afternoon was below his best.

We have plenty of entries in the coming days but the cold snap could jeopardise many meetings.

I was delighted to see Timmy Murphy make a comeback after a spell on the sidelines with a fractured vertebra. He gave Thunder Sheik a great ride to finish second at Warwick. I would also like to congratulate my little amateur jockey Conor Shoemark on his win at Plumpton on Monday – he’s a champion in the making.

Looking ahead to the weekend, it will be a quiet one for us but we will all be watching the ‘black aeroplane’ aka Sprinter Sacre who is going for his seventh consecutive win in the Victor Chandler Chase on Channel 4.

Local success.

SLAD trainer Tom George is continuing his run of success with five winners in 14 days, one of which was Rody who defied top weight to win at Warwick on Saturday.

Nigel Twiston-Davies had a super Saturday at Warwick with two great performances from his young horses. The New One, who won the novices’ hurdle, will now head for Cheltenham Trials Day on January 26, while Pure Science put on a dazzling display in the bumper (a flat race for young jumpers!). I look forward to him appearing over hurdles, as long as he is not against me!

#TentoFollowTeam.

NONE of our team raced over the weekend but we are in for a wheelbarrow load of winners this weekend. Boston Bob will hopefully start us off today over in Ireland, followed by the unbeatable Sprinter Sacre at Ascot on Saturday, and Hunt Ball who heads to Taunton on the same day.
