Alan King star dies after surgery for colic

ALAN KING'S Champion Hurdle hero Katchit, dubbed ‘the little horse with the big heart’, has been put down at the age of ten after surgery for colic.

Katchit not only won the Champion Hurdle in 2008 but the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival the previous year.

He was owned by the DSJP Syndicate, whose principal partner is David Bellamy, CEO of St James’s Place Wealth Management based in Cirencester.

Katchit's regular jockey Robert Thornton tweeted: “No words I can write can explain how much the little warrior meant to myself and the team at Barbury. RIP little man.”
