Tytherington Rocks 7 Purton 1.
PURTON won their games at 'the Rocks' in the previous two seasons by 5-0 and 3-1 but last Saturday the home side gained sweet revenge with an emphatic win, writes Alan Eastwood.
Purton were without the services of Coole, Townsend, Mason, Gee, Cadden and Avenell through illness, suspension, injury and holidays. Nevertheless, they were disappointed to be so comprehensively 'rolled over', particularly in the second half.
A sloppy goal after nine minutes gave the Rocks the lead and they followed it with another freak goal after 36 minutes.
Purton's Stevens went close with a header and Crocker and Gooch had shots blocked in the first half.
The second half saw the home side net four more goals to go 6-0 up before sub Johnny Cowley pulled a goal back only for the Rocks to go up the other end and notch a seventh to complete a miserable afternoon for the visitors.
