CIRENCESTER TOWN boss Brian Hughes is on the lookout for a new centre back and captain following the shock move this week of Matt Sysum to Evesham United.
Sysum, a dominant force in both boxes, has enjoyed a fine start to the season since his return from knee surgery and being given the captain’s armband.
He leaves fifth-placed Cirencester for Evesham, who are six places below their Evo-Stik Southern League Div 1 South & West rivals, citing the need for a ‘new challenge’.
“It is frustrating just when I had strengthened the defence with the signing of Jon Beeden from Supermarine,” said Hughes.
“Sys did fantastically well to come back from a nasty injury and he has always worn his heart on his sleeve in a Ciren shirt for me.”
Cirencester are due to visit Clevedon Town in the league tonight (Wednesday).
