Bibury hit four past Barnwood in County Cup

GFA Senior Amateur Cup.

Barnwood United 1 Bibury 4.

BIBURY saw off Gloucester Northern Senior League opponents Barnwood as they progressed in the County Cup.

The Cheltenham League leaders were soon on the attack as Harry Deacon saw a shot deflected wide. From the resulting corner, Bibury took the lead as a cross by Darren Parker was headed home by captain Dan Shannon at the far post.

Five minutes later, Bibury made it 2-0 following good work on the right from Matty Brunton and Harry Deacon. The ball was fed to John Austin who, in turn, played in Ashley Rockley on the left hand side of the area and he curled the ball around the keeper's dive into the far corner of the goal.

Bibury kept going forward at pace and both Parker and Josh Russell subsequently went close.

The third Bibury goal came just after the half-hour mark when Rockley played in Parker to score, but Barnwood pulled a goal back right on the whistle for half-time.

Buoyed by that success, Barnwood started the second half with confidence and the Bibury defence, as well as keeper Steve Luce, were having to stand firm.

Bibury made some changes and two top saves from Luce kept their lead at 3-1 before Kanne Outram played in Rockley to make the score 4-1 with three minutes to go.
