TWO dozen river runners braved freezing waters on Saturday swimming upstream almost five and a half miles up the River Coln for charity.

Using only inflatables and wetsuits, the runners from the Colnbury Club waded upstream from The Inn at Fossebridge to Bibury Court Hotel.

The river was so cold flecks of ice ran along the bank in places.

Organiser James Russell said: "I was one of the few who was wearing a short wetsuit and the other people were made of stronger stuff than me as I had to give up.

"I have never been so cold in my entire life."

The group raised around £900 for Bone Cancer Research.
