KEY Stage 1 children at St Mary’s Primary School took part in a medieval banquet to finish their school topic on medieval times. Pupils spent the morning preparing for the feast and taking part in medieval sports.

Students entered the 'St Mary's Castle' to the sound of drumming and the lords and ladies on the top table were entertained by a juggling jester, medieval music and dancing.

A lunch-time banquet followed cooked by ‘servants’ from classes 3,4 and 5, consisting of roast chicken, smoked fish, spiced sausagemeat, ginger cake and apples and pears.

Deputy head teacher, Jane Rushton, said: “The banquet was a wonderful way to end such an exciting topic. The children loved dressing up and looked fantastic in their costumes. Great fun and lots of learning was had by all'
