STORYTELLING at St Mary’s School has been given a tree-mendous boost thanks to its new chair sculpture.
The Tetbury school entered a competition to win a storytelling chair sculpture carved during Westonbirt’s annual summer Treefest event by sculptor Steve Griffin.
St Mary’s successful bid to win the chair mentioned the new library, the Den, that has been built at the school.
The one ton ‘Storybooks’ chair has now taken pride of place in the school’s reception for everyone to view it, before moving into the school’s outdoor area next to the new library.
Pupils from the school were asked to name their 20 favourite books and these have been carved onto the giant books that form the basis of the chair.
