A NEW school for Gloucestershire’s young people on the autism spectrum is set to open its doors in September 2014.

The school will be a teaching centre for young people aged 11 to 19 years-old with autism and Asperger’s. LVS Oxford is located at the former Begbroke Priory in Begroke, Oxfordshire and is open to admissions from students who live up to an hour away in Gloucestershire.

The converted priory will provide residential and day places with purpose-designed work areas.

Director of special educational needs, Sarah Sherwood, will oversee LVS Oxford. She said: “My vision is employability and independent living skills for our students with these learning difficulties.”
