FROM September, Rose Hill Westonbirt near Tetbury will be known as Westonbirt Prep School.

The new name comes four years after the successful merger of Querns Westonbirt and Rose Hill School, Alderley.

Around 130 boys and girls, aged three to 11, attend the prep school in the grounds of Westonbirt School.

Neil Shaw, headteacher, said: “The new name acknowledges that the popular prep school benefits from considerable links and shared facilities with the senior school next door. It was the natural thing to do.

“We have the size and heart of a village school but with the facilities of a much larger independent prep school. We are unique in this part of the Cotswolds.”

To celebrate the launch of the new name, the school is offering four special bursaries with awards up to 50 percent for children moving from Year 2 to Year 3.

Mr Shaw said: “We are very proud to be part of the community. These bursaries will make independent education accessible to more pupils who wouldn’t ordinarily have that access.”
