THERE was Mo-stopping the staff at Rose Hill Westonbirt during the month of November when they cultivated moustaches as part of the Movember appeal to raise awareness and funds for men's health charities.

Headteacher Neil Shaw and teachers James Stewart and David Aherne along with five dads and one supportive mum raised an impressive £600 for the prostate cancer appeal.

Headmaster Neil Shaw said: "This is the second year the male teachers at Rose Hill Westonbirt school have taken part in Movember and this year we have been joined by quite a few of the Dads as well.

"We are pleased to support a very worthwhile cause and think it is a terrific way to get boys and men talking about health issues. Prostate cancer in particular is really treatable with a high success rate as long as it is diagnosed early and men aren't too embarrassed or shy to seek medical help.

"At Rose Hill Westonbirt we take all aspects of healthy living seriously."

At the end of the month, children, staff and parents sporting stick-on moustaches were treated to a light hearted assembly with an interactive quiz.

And Year 3 form tutor David Aherne was declared the winner in the race to see who could shave off his moustache the fastest.
