FARMOR’S School students had their interest in the media sharpened when the sixth form played host to the editor of the Guardian newspaper Alan Rusbridger.
Mr Rusbridger was invited to speak to sixth students at the Fairford school by former student and head boy George Irving, as part of the Speakers for Schools programme run by parliament.
The editor, who has been at the helm of the Guardian since 1995, spoke to a selected group of 50 year 12 and 13 students about the evolution of the digital age and its impact on the media landscape prior to a tour of the school.
He had lunch with a panel of sixth form students who have an interest in careers in media, politics and journalism and has agreed to return to the school in 2013.
* The Farmor’s Sixth Form open evening will take place on Thursday, November 8 from 6-8.30pm.
