Sleeping bags are a big help

9:12am Friday 24th August 2012

AFTER such an unusually wet summer and with Autumn rapidly approaching please could I make a heartfelt appeal on behalf of Gloucester City Mission for any spare sleeping bags. Any weight or size would be gratefully received.

In Gloucester City there are approximately 130 people on the streets. With an estimated 25 per cent rise in unemployment in Gloucester the numbers of homeless people are steadily increasing. These members of our community often have to choose between staying dry and going hungry or being fed through kindness and wet through. In the rain and cold sleeping bags rot and are hard to keep dry. So there is a turnover. Could you please contact me, Bleddwyn Evans, of 10 Park Lane on 01285 640184 if you are able to provide any unwanted sleeping bags.

Gloucester City Mission would also gratefully receive any spare wool to make knitted blankets for our street people. Your help could change and save lives.
