Skatepark launch suffers setback
12:48pm Wednesday 4th July 2012 in Letters
UNFORTUNATELY, due to weather issues, the Adam Philby Skatepark will not be completed in time to be opened at the forthcoming Tetbury Fiesta on July 8, as reported in last week’s newspaper. Maverick Industries, the largest constructor of skateparks, have done all that they could to complete the project but it was very important that damage was kept to a minimum on the Recreation Ground and so potential days of build have been lost.
Ali Baxter was misquoted in the fiesta item in last week’s issue in that he suggested "he hoped it would be completed in time". As we now know this is sadly not the case.
This will not affect the fiesta nor the skate competition organised by Decimal Skateshop, competing for the Adam Philby trophy, on the same day. The new construction when complete will be officially opened at a later date to be arranged.
Malc and Lizzie Philby thank the Standard and all their family and friends for the tremendous support for this project and believe that the new skatepark will be a lasting memorial to Adam.
