Amused at toilet charge dodgers article

I WAS highly amused to read your article ‘Toilet charge dodgers draining finances’ In which it is suggested 85,000 people used the public loos without paying between April 2011 and March 2012. This would mean over that period over 232 ‘fees dodgers’ a day are being ‘smuggled’ into public toilets. I find that figure hard to believe. Perhaps the loss is more likely down to the fact people are not willing to pay 20p a time to use toilets that frankly are not the cleanest or most hygienic public toilets in the country. Personally I only nip into town to buy what I need, I never make a day of it but if I did, I would certainly stop at a pub or coffee shop for a drink and a pit stop.

Using these public toilets is a last resort for most people I know. I don’t know who makes these figures up but they have clearly plucked a figure out of the sky.
