Step forward at the annual meeting and put your points to the committee

I HAVE been reading Mr Dobby's comments on the Standard's website, regarding his concerns about the Chesterton Community Project.

The project was set up in 2007, by a hard working committee. It did take some time to get the constitution written up and this was put to the town council for approval. If Mr Dobby would like to see it I am sure our chairman can get a copy for him to read.

Since the project started in 2007, we have always seen fit to class certain areas as part of Chesterton, although they may belong to other wards of the town.

We have undertaken a number of projects in the area, including painting of the Tetbury Road subway, litter picking in the Four Acres Field and the adjoining woods which are part of Park Ward; litter picking by Magicland leading up to Meadow Road, which is Watermoor Ward. We have always invited residents who live to the south side of the Bristol Road, and east of the Tetbury Road dual carriageways and within the parish boundary of Cirencester.

The chairman has stated that anybody who wishes to join our committee must live in the defined area which is stated in the constitution. We do overlap but see these areas as part of Chesterton as reported in the Standard of June 14 this year .

If Mr Dobby has great concerns over this matter perhaps he would like to contact our chairman and attend our annual meeting later this year which will be advertised in local press.

The group has been running smoothly for the past five years and has always included the said areas within our boundaries of the group.

Thank you to ‘Jessica Rabbit’ for your input too. I can see from your comments, that you support our group. We have a good strong committee now that works together in all aspects, but if there is anybody out there, like Mr Dobby, who thinks we are doing wrong, then step forward at the annual meeting and put your points to the committee.
