Thanks to Shirley Alexander, Jane Miller and all volunteers for Cirencester's jubilee celebrations
4:41pm Wednesday 13th June 2012 in Letters
MAY I through the Standard, give a big big thank you, to Shirley Alexander and Jane Miller, for all the hard work that they put in to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, not forgetting all the volunteers that helped them to make this day a great success too.
Crowds lined the streets to see the procession, which had that Carnival feeling to it. All the children that joined it were all well behaved and excited, as they represented organisations within our town.
The atmosphere within the Abbey grounds was also fantastic, it was buzzing all afternoon, and the compliments kept coming in from all ages.
Leading up to the evening celebrations, the mini pageant was very, very good, and congratulations must go to Deer Park School for their part in this.
The evening's bands provided a wonderful party in the park atmosphere, all the bands were very good and the public thoroughly enjoyed them. Then it was all the community groups leading a torch light procession in to the centre leading up to the stage ready for the last night of the proms, which filled the air with crowds singing and cheering to their heart's content.
Once again Shirley and Jane thank you very much for all the time and effort that went in to these celebrations. People of Cirencester cannot wait for the next one.
