Cancer charity needs more support in Cirencester
4:38pm Wednesday 13th June 2012 in Letters
ON MAY 14 I attended a meeting in Cirencester organised by Marie Curie Cancer Care to let local residents and supporters know of some exciting plans for the town.
The charity, which provides free and specialised care to terminally ill patients and their families in their homes, would like help and support from the people of Cirencester to form a new fundraising group in the town.
The meeting was very interesting and informative about the work Marie Curie Nurses do in Gloucestershire as well how local people can help ensure this work can continue.
The Cirencester Fundraising Group will help coordinate collections during the Great Daffodil Appeal every March; get involved with a Blooming Great Tea Party as well as any extra events or activities in order to boost funds and awareness.
The group needs more members to come on board in order to get started so I am appealing to your readers to come forward and get involved in a fun and social way of raising money for local Marie Curie Nurses.
Another meeting will be organised shortly but in the meantime if you are interested in hearing a bit more about these plans, please contact the Gloucestershire Community Fundraiser, Catherine Butt on 0117 942 7132 or email catherine.butt@mariecurie.org.uk LINDA LANCHBURY Marie Curie Cancer Care
