Concern for leisure centres transfers

REPLY to Mr Wilson's letter (Standard, May 24), I would like to state that I am concerned about the way in which all leisure centres are being transferred into organisations that may or may not be able to run them in a professional way. The Lib Dem Group on Cotswold District Council is concerned about two things. Firstly, the haste with which this is being done. Secondly, the lack of any firm indication by the council's administration as to what is guaranteed and what type of organisation and expertise is required to run such a centre.

We all need these questions answered satisfactorily - members of the public are raising them too and have legitimate queries, which must not be brushed aside.
