I HAVE just had Tory MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown’s election leaflet put through my door where he makes reference to the Hunting Act by saying "...whatever your views on the issue, [the ban] has been shown to be unworkable."

This is a typically nebulous statement from the Tories so what does he mean?

The spirit of the hunt ban is clear - to prevent the unnecessary suffering caused by those who torment our wild animals by hounding them to a savage death for the sake of amusement.

The hunts claim they are trail-hunting instead so what is ‘unworkable’ about that?

I would write and ask him myself as I am a constituent but the last time we corresponded on this subject he responded by saying he would not discuss the matter further with me, so you see my dilemma.

Please could you ask him to explain in detail via the pages of your newspaper why he does not support the spirit of the hunt ban and why he wants to see the Hunting Act overturned?
