WELL it has certainly been interesting with the various views on Tetbury in the local press (Standard, May 31)

I think Mr Moore has many benefits in the gist of his letter stating we should have more Tetbury News. Our overworked and overstretched editor would testify that I’m constantly asking for Tetbury to be allowed its own page, (and even produced a few).

And very often some of my stories and photographs are sprinkled throughout the paper. As he is fully aware that the amount of news that I write would cover a page easily, and I always exceed my word count! (and it’s not just about the Goods Shed or the church, although they are both very active in our community.)

I took the liberty of popping down and having a chat with Colin. I assured him I did not take his comments personally and I actually agree that Tetbury should have more news space, and he agreed that there is far more written than just the few he mentioned.

However sports should be sent to the Sports Editor for the sports section, and we carried on chatting and reminiscing for quite some time in his garden.

It was interesting as well to find out that HRH Prince Charles revealed how he enjoys keeping in touch with local life by reading the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard. "Local journalism is about giving communities a voice and empowering people with the knowledge to make informed decisions.''

Unfortunately I could not pop and have a chat with him and discuss this in his garden!

It is indeed a great honour, to know that many people read and are interested in our great town of Tetbury.

The Tetbury talk column is your weekly and completely free way to promote any community event and gives you a voice. When I started many years ago I introduced it by saying ''if it happens in Tetbury it is news to me!’’

The printed form is the most trusted form, as when you have something in black and white you can refer to it, unlike electronic and social media forms which can be there one second and down the next.

In fact I echo the Einstein ethos: ''Our technology has surpassed our humanity’’.Perhaps a more modern version written by Charlie Brooker: ''We spend more time gazing at luminous screens than into the eyes of our loved ones.”

Anyway thank you to all my readers and I never mind constructive criticism as like many Tetburians we take things with fun and good faith, so I am off now to a Church Service in the Good Shed!.
