I HAVE noticed the street sign for Love Lane in Cirencester has disappeared and now there is a far uglier one for Midland Road.
At the top of the big hill in Stroud the sign for Gypsy Lane has also been missing for quite a number of years.
I wish to protest this most strongly as the signs connect us to the history of the town and area which has lost too much of its charm already.
In the case of Gypsy Lane, gypsies in traditional caravans sometimes park nearby (I have photographed them a few years ago and they were very friendly). Traditional gypsy caravans and horses parked up along the side of roads are another pleasant sight and an asset to the area and it would be a shame to lose them.
