TAKING her husband out of Paternoster House in Cirencester earlier this month, Jill Mitchell had an encounter that made her day.
Attempting to push John’s wheelchair across Watermoor Road, Jill found the chair was totally stuck on the kerb.
A man, who Jill thought was in his 30s, swung his car across the road to block traffic, before jumping out to help her.
After making sure they could cross the road safely, the stranger asked if there was anything else he could do for them.
Jill was taken back by the unexpected gesture. “I couldn’t believe it,” she said.
“You hear so many bad things in the news, especially about younger people, but this reminds you that there are good people out there.”
With an especially hard couple of months in the news, we could all do with hearing more about Britain at its best, like the kindness shown by this stranger.
