OVER the past few months there has been numerous letters from local disabled drivers regarding having very few places to park and none near the town centre.

I personally think it’s scandalous the way Cirencester Council treats disabled drivers with total disregard.

As a disabled driver, I know there were four disabled parking spaces for us, and four for the taxis, that were together outside the front of the church.

When the council in their wisdom altered the Market Place, they kept four spaces for taxis outside the Corn Hall and our four spaces disappeared, but any Tom, Dick or Harry can park in the four spaces by the taxis. Those spaces should have been reserved for disabled parking. Surely this would have made sense?

The council have also stopped disabled drivers using Cricklade Street, under the threat of a £60 fine if we do.

Cirencester Council – we have nowhere to park, do something about it or put up signs saying disabled drivers are not welcome in this town.

The council over the past months have turned a deaf ear towards the local disabled people, and it really isn’t good enough anymore, have you no shame? You have turned us into second-class citizens in our own town, you really should be ashamed of yourselves – this is 2017.

Also, one more thing, can’t the council see that making Castle Street one way is slowly killing the town?
