I AM surprised and pleased that The Standard responded so quickly to my letter, but not pleased the Editor did not publish my comments on the absence of blue badge spaces in the Market Place.

The Council responded quickly to the need for a five-place taxi rank, but did not publish my suggestions for five blue badge spaces outside the two banks. This suggestion is based on a dire need and in support of Mrs Mary Bartlett’s letter.

There are 15 pay and display car parking spaces provided in the marketplace and these are adequate. The council were quick to displace parking for taxis and the disabled outside the parish church, but only replaced parking spaces for taxis and omitted blue badge spaces. Black marks to the Council for its omission and for The Standard for not publishing it.

I have one other minor observation in The Standard publication of my letter regarding the provision of market places and not for ‘harvests’ as printed. The term ‘harvest’ does not make sense.

The new Market Place was made very good use of last Sunday morning outside the parish church when hosting a French themed street market (not harvest) on such a warm sunny morning. A total pleasure.
