I AM really curious to know why The Waterloo, rather than Sheep Street, is the preferred site for Cirencester’s proposed multistorey car park.

There may well be very good reasons but the article in last week’s paper made no mention of them.

Instead, there was a quote from a councillor implying that there was no debating the location and that the only area left for negotiation was the design.

It seems perverse to choose a site that will have an impact on so many people’s homes over one closer to the centre of the town, particularly as Sheep Street is within an area which already has multi-storey, commercial buildings like St James’s Place and Tesco.

I do not live near The Waterloo myself but I think the people who do live there deserve, at the very least, to know the reasoning behind a decision that will have such a major effect on them.
