GE BRAZIER writes about wind turbines and about global warming, (Letters, January 26).

I don’t really care much what the writer thinks but I do care very much when people misinform in a public forum such as our local newspaper.

In this strange new world of ‘alternative facts’ it behoves us all to call them out.

Temperature measurements are not a matter of opinion, they are objective matters of fact.

Contrary to the writer’s opinion that world temperatures have fallen ‘this year’, 2016 was the hottest year ever recorded, confirmed using different data sets, by NASA, UK Met Office and NOAA and 16 out of 17 of the hottest years on record have been this century.

These figures are researched by independent reputable bodies, the data is on record and open to review.

Perhaps GE Brazier doesn’t believe in expertise.

I had to smile when it was suggested that maybe ‘solar radiation’ has an influence on the climate.

Of course it does, that’s where the heat is coming from and carbon dioxide traps more of it on the Earth.

I believe there are some very good primers for schoolchildren on global warming that GE Brazier should read.
