I AM a volunteer hospital car driver for Community Connexions.

On Monday, January 23, I collected an elderly couple from Avening for an appointment at Tetbury Hospital.

On the way I hit a pot hole causing severe damage to my tyre.

Local taxis and my breakdown recovery were unable to respond within the hour, as my patient was on oxygen it was of major concern.

Help came from a young farmer who positioned the tractor protecting my car and patient.

He immediately set about changing the wheel, with some difficulty such was the damage.

Myself and a very grateful patient tried to compensate him for his trouble, which he adamantly refused to accept.

I would like to record through your paper, my thanks, and that of my patient, for his unselfish action which saved the day.
