Thank you for publishing my letter of November 17.

Unfortunately you only printed half my letter and left out what I thought was the more relevant part and would be obliged if you would publish this amended version.

I was implying we should all of us be more active and interested in our town and make it more attractive/attractable for both tourists and ourselves alike.

Regarding flower power sponsorship, as a private individual I would be more than willing, at least for the period of the year of the Abbey, to sponsor and/or donate towards a Phoenix trough or hanging baskets.

I’m sure there are other readers and civic-minded companies that would be willing to become sponsors.

As it’s all about flower power Dobbies is an obvious possibility, but I’m sure they would easily recoup their costs with extra customers. As a sponsor/donor I would be one for a start.

I also suggested that your paper could hold another competition for the best most attractive window boxes by local shopowners.

NatWest can always be relied on to provide a good display which should be an inspiration to others.

I also suggested that the Forum car park railings should be used for advertising our town.

We already have posters for the Obelisk and the Auditorium and I think they should also be on display in the car park, that’s where the majority of the tourists will see them first.

There should also be canvas posters for the Abbey as it was and also a street map showing of Corinium as it was. Apart from the Forum and the Auditorium I, like others, have no idea what the rest of Corinium must have looked like.

I suspect that tourists would be just as confused. As I have said we should all take steps to improve our town, the capital of the Cotswolds.
