FURTHER to the comments made in last week’s Standard, I can only assume that the clerk of the works looking after the project in the town centre is on holiday, completely absent or perhaps should have gone to Specsavers.

The “new” road surface laid in Market Place is laid with a stone with a completely flat manufactured surface yet it has somehow been allowed to be laid with more unevenness than a cobbled surface.

Other areas in the town alterations are also to a poor standard.

Unfortunately, it is a sign of the times with the “that will do” mindset and the lack of good tradesmen.
