I WRITE to you in desperation over the lack of parking availability in Cirencester.

The advance of office building (St James’s Place and more schemes) and new housing seems relentless.

There is no infrastructure or plan to provide remotely enough parking spaces.

Twice last week I returned home to Winson without achieving my objectives in town because I could not park anywhere.

Station, Market Place, Forum, Waterloo – all tried.

When I stopped briefly outside the dry cleaners I was immediately moved on by the parking warden, who would not allow me to simply go in and pick up my dry cleaning.

This is ruining what was one of the most beautiful and famous market towns in the country.

Retailers I have spoken to are finding their turnover down by as much as 40 per cent.

Something has to be done, and urgently.
