A COUPLE of weekends ago I went down to the opening day of the open air swimming pool in Cirencester.
I was overcome with emotion when I saw the first phase of the pool completed.
It was absolutely fantastic.
I just stood there and thought back to over 40 years ago when the handful of dedicated swimmers fought the town council to keep the pool open; they won.
What would they think today?
Over the last 40-odd years, a continuous group of dedicated volunteers have given their free time and skills to update and maintain the pool to a high standard.
A big thank-you to you all.
Wishing the pool a very successful season of plenty of sunshine and lots of customers.
I have enjoyed the pool all my life.
