AS a previous annual pilgrim to the Malmesbury History Festival, it’ll be sorely missed.
However, as it’s the Millennium of the Battle of Sherston on June 5, an alternative stop-gap to the festival will see Dr Timothy Bolton give a lecture at Sherston Church.
From Sweden, Dr Bolton is a graduate of Corpus Chisti, Cambridge and fellow of Cardiff University as well as Aberdeen University.
The lecture on Cnut the Great at the Sherston Church of the Holy Cross will be held at 7.30 pm on June 25.
Following the lecture, Heather Flack will offer her book Ironside: The English King who fought the Danes.
