I READ with interest your report (May 26) on the possibility of National Express withdrawing their coach services from Cirencester.

As a reasonably regular traveller, I would be extremely disappointed if such action was taken.

Buses on the No. 51 route navigate their way down Victoria Road every hour throughout the day on their way to and from Swindon, and I would have thought it was perfectly feasible for National Express coaches to take a similar route on their less frequent journeys to and from London.

Those coaches travelling to the capital could turn left into Victoria Road from London Road and then take the by-pass onto the A419 at Kingshill Roundabout, while those coming from London could take the same route in reverse, with a right turn from Victoria Road into London Road, where there are already bus/coach stops on either side of London Road, and the coaches would continue their journeys in the right direction.

Not only would this save the hassle of coaches having to negotiate parked cars and vans in Dyer Street, it would probably also be quicker as well.
