CIRENCESTER has received a number of negative comments in the past from writers (including myself) regarding scruffy grass verges and various other things, but I now think it is time to summarise some of the ways in which the town has improved recently.

The tubs of flowers in many parts of the town and the Abbey Grounds make a big difference to the town’s appearance.

A huge thank you to all of the volunteers concerned; the hares are always a welcome sight; the grass on the roundabouts and on the dual carriageway is neatly cut, as are the verges in the residential areas – many thanks to the volunteer who undertakes these tasks.

Black Jack Street has never looked better and is always a joy to visit.

The free parking after 3.00pm is really good and shows initiative, whilst enabling visitors and residents to make a useful saving in parking fees.

Well done to all concerned.
