WHILE driving from Stratton to the town over the weekend, I could not help but notice that along my route, particularly Grove Lane, there was a littering, (and I mean littering) of unsightly mobile advertising hoardings.

One had been dumped on to the pavement by the traffic lights; another 100 yards further on and yet another abandoned by the roadside.

We are not talking about small insignificant boards but large in-your-face billboards.

Cirencester is supposed to be a picturesque town surrounded by natural countryside.

What tourists, or most people for that matter, want to see when driving around these enormous boards dumped by the roadside?

If nothing is done to stop this type of advertising they will eventually multiply and be appearing on many junctions and main roads.

The companies doing this obviously have no concern for the appearance of the area.

If the council cannot do anything to stop this, I urge people to follow my example and refuse to use the companies involved, and perhaps it could discourage them from using this form of advertising.

It is also quite dangerous, as it distracts the driver from looking out for all the deep potholes that litter our roads.
