IS there any truth in the rumour that a Mini has been found at the bottom of one of the potholes littering the Chesterton Lane and Cranhams Lane areas in Cirencester?

Am I the only one incensed by the lack of action or responsibility by the local authorities in this matter? These obstacles are positively dangerous to both travellers and their vehicles.

Anyone who watched the “patching up” jobs performed last year by two men, and a truck with a bit of tarmac in it, knew that this was a poor reaction to the problem and wouldn’t be a lasting solution.

If anything these holes are now worse than they were before, and we haven’t experienced a hard winter or any severe frosts.

Another example of false economy in the community.

Just to add insult to injury, I understand our rates are to increase by around four per cent this year, so perhaps the highways authority can advise how they propose to give us some proper and lasting value for our money?

As these now appear to be a permanent feature of the landscape in Cirencester, maybe local companies could consider sponsoring a pot hole and either plant flowers there or hold a corporate event in it.
