COTSWOLD District Council are giving scant regard to publicising the huge development being applied for by Bathurst at Chesterton.

Although they claim that the Bathurst development involved the community, the truth is that nearly all of the people who attended the community sessions were adamantly opposed to the colossal size of the scheme. An exit poll confirmed this as does a survey by the Standard.

Earl Bathurst, the landowner, has now opted to submit his application in advance of the Local Plan being considered and CDC are therefore obliged to issue notification about the application.

As has been the case from the outset, CDC are loath to publicise this development.

Comments have to be made in a sixweek period to March 3 and even though the council say comments made after this date will be considered you have to wonder why they inhibit people by mentioning a curtailment date?

The council’s publicity has been woeful – an advert in the Standard and some on-site notices are hardly more than you get with a routine single household application, not one for 2,250 homes.
