I READ Thought for the Week in the Standard last weekend.

As a Welshman living in Cirencester, I’ve been thinking about the debate in England having its own national anthem.

In Wales, Scotland and Ireland, God Save the Queen will always be seen by most as the English Anthem.

A better way would be to let England keep it as their own and canvas for a new ‘British’ National Anthem.

This would help unite all the countries of these islands, when there are pressures from some to lose it.
