I READ your coverage of Commercial Estates Group (CEG) publicity events regarding their development proposals for Kemble airfield on pages 1, 3 and 28 of the Standard dated July 2, and noticed a major omission on your part.

Philippa Lowe, CDC’s head of development services, submitted a statement but you left out probably the most important fact that she provided.

After quoting her accurately when she stated that any relevant strategic development proposal would first need to be agreed by Wiltshire Council before it could be considered, you then overlooked the following clarification: “On this crucial point it should be noted that Wiltshire Council has already adopted a core strategy which is based on developing existing service centres.

“It does not support the development of the proposed Kemble location.”

Additionally, I would be grateful if you could  allow me to emphasise the following which was also omitted from Philippa’s statement:  “We wish to make it clear that the forthcoming CEG publicity events regarding development proposals for Kemble airfield are NOT endorsed by Cotswold District Council and they are NOT part of the formal Local Plan consultation process.”
