MS SUE Thomson refers in her letter (‘My mistake not accommodated’ – July 9) to her innocent mistake not being accommodated by officers when her otherwise valid car parking ticket was not correctly displayed.
Ms Thomson’s case dates from 2009, long before my election to the council.
But the fact that she writes about it some six years later demonstrates the importance of ensuring that we do try to accommodate innocent mistakes when they are made.
Let me reiterate. Where an otherwise valid ticket has been made the subject of a penalty, we will consider any appeals on their merits, taking into account any mitigating circumstances at that time.
