I WRITE in regard to the letter in last week’s edition of the paper from Mrs M Taylor of Cirencester.
The VE 70th Anniversary was commemorated in Cirencester with the union flag being flown from the Parish Church of St John Baptist and by the Earl Bathurst at the Mansion House.
There was a Quarter Peel by the bellringers at St John Baptist.
Prayers of Thanksgiving were said throughout the weekend at each church service in the three of the churches in the parish of Cirencester with Watermoor.
A VE party, 1940s in style, was held at Coxwell Court, attended by the mayor and a V for Victory was seen in the sky.
