MAY I through your letter column, ask the town council what happened to the VE celebrations?

Not one single flag. No special church service. No parade.

Do they realise the numberamount of men and women from Cirencester alone who that went to war?

We all had a rough time, but the town stuck together.

We were very much alive. Look at us now, we are dead.If the council was short of money, I could have made a load of cakes and sandwiches to fill a table, or got out my sewing machine and made a few flags.

I may be 86 years old, but I would still make the effort.

So come on town council, get off your backsides and lift this town a bit.

There was Tetbury and Nailsworth all putting something on, and they are just small towns.
