WELL done Standard for printing the new and old plans for the Market Place side by side.
The old plan is very much like my suggested one that you printed last summer, with trees and traffic-free areas and I suspect if townsfolk were to vote between the two, the old plan would easily win.
If mine were included, many would vote for it, with a complete traffic-free environment, increased car parking and deliveries only before 10am or after 4.30pm (including Cricklade Street) Also, well done to John Milner (‘Flawed thinking on Chesterton’ -– Standard, January 8) who gave a crystal-clear explanation why we do not want to become a ‘sustainable town’ like Swindon, with Cirencester ‘Old Town’ in the centre.
The trouble is that Cotswold District Council have invested so much time and money into what they want, the are not going to easily change now.
