I AM horrified by the speeding traffic up and down the Spratsgate Lane from Cirencester to Ashton Keynes. I regularly cycle the road with my young son and am terrified that we will be hit by one of these irresponsible drivers. I often see people driving in excess of 70mph around narrow sections of the road and over the brows of hills with very limited visibility ahead. It is very, very dangerous.
I heard about a tragic death recently and I was sadly not surprised. This road has a 60mph limit but is used regularly by pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders, in addition traffic queues at the entrance to some of the leisure amenities along the way. We need a lower speed limit and a speed reduction system. Without this I am certain that more tragedies will follow and more families will have to deal with the loss of a loved one.
