I REFER to the article ‘Bus changes are explained’ on page 3 of the Standard, July 17.
Your reporter failed to report the most important fact about the proposed No 74 bus route which is that it cannot happen.
This is because the ‘bus gate’ street has been built as a ‘shared surface’ and the Gloucestershire County Council’s own ‘Manual for Gloucestershire Streets’ specifically states a bus route cannot use such a street.
The GCC have therefore been asked by the residents to adopt the route in their petition of January 2013, which proposes the buses go in and out of the Kings Meadow development using the Tesco roundabout and not go across the dangerous junction in North Home Road.
On behalf of the over 500 people who supported the safety petition.
