FOLLOWING last week’s article (Standard, June 26) about the split in the town council over funding for a local charity, I am writing to express my support for the work of Signpost in Cirencester.

I was struck by the response of Graham Harris that the issue of whether people are scrounging was a matter of faith, not judgement.

There are two stories in the Bible when Jesus fed several thousand people with what little resources he and his disciples had to hand. Both stories recount that everyone who was fed went away satisfied, regardless of their status.

Well done to Graham and Juliette for working in such a challenging area of society.

I hope it will be their testimony that those who receive their ministry will be satisfied both physically and, more importantly, spiritually.
